Welcome to the Buddhist Meditation Community at Duke!

Join us on Mondays from 7:00-8:00 pm in room 144 in Duke Wellness building for meditation and exploration of our theme for the evening. We are also currently offering a Vipassana meditation on Thursdays from 5:15-6:15 pm. You can find details in our weekly newsletter.

All are welcome. We are a culturally and ideologically diverse group that brings core Buddhist teachings and practices to bear on our modern lives and cultural contexts through experiential exercises and discussion. We are deeply committed to celebrating different identities and vantage points and welcome all who are curious, including beginners, experienced Buddhists, and those of other faiths or no faith equally.

There are two open Prayer and Meditation Rooms that are available for students and faculty of all faiths. They are in Perkins Library and on the downstairs floor of the Bryan Center. These two areas are available anytime for quiet meditation.

Most of us will travel this week for holiday and will return during the second week of January 2024.

BMCD will meet again on Monday January 15, 2004.

Have a safe trip back home to celebrate holidays with friends and family.

If anyone doesn’t have plans to travel during the holiday and still wants to have a session or chat with the chaplain, please feel free to reach out to me directly at 919-414-5522.
